Farewell, Waves 🌊
After many years building on Waves, BlockAI made the difficult decision to stop developing on the Waves blockchain and progressively shut down the Waves-related services and infrastructure we maintain.
We genuinely enjoyed building here. Waves is great technology, and we have met many talented builders, node operators and community members whom we deeply respect.
Unfortunately, the recent events surrounding POWER DAO have destroyed our confidence in Waves as an ecosystem in which we can continue investing our time and resources.
Community decisions were repeatedly challenged or bypassed, supporters were restricted from participating in governance, and exclusions were eventually introduced directly at smart-contract level. Most recently, the vote to cancel BlockAI’s funding was still ongoing and the cancellation was losing, yet our funding stream was directly authorized for cancellation and terminated on-chain before the community had even finished voting.
This is not about funding.
Had the community voted against BlockAI, we would have accepted that decision. What we cannot accept is building in an ecosystem where community decisions can simply be overridden when their outcome becomes inconvenient.
A blockchain is more than its technology. Builders need to trust the environment they’re building in. We no longer have that confidence in Waves.
BlockAI itself is not ending, we are simply moving forward elsewhere.
To everyone who supported us, worked with us, voted for us, or used what we built over the years: thank you. It was a great journey while it lasted.
